Your Rights

Maintaining consumer privacy and data accuracy are of the utmost importance to TransUnion. That is why we strictly comply with the terms of the Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance issued by the Office of the Privacy Commissioner for Personal Data, Hong Kong. This assures you of the right to:

  • Obtain your credit report from TransUnion. You can also order credit monitoring from TransUnion. This enables you to detect unauthorized changes that may indicate fraud, as well as errors that may appear on your credit report.

  • Correct your credit data if it is inaccurate and to re-apply for credit from the credit provider concerned after the data is amended. If your credit application is rejected due to inaccurate data, the relevant credit provider should, upon your request, reconsider your credit application based upon the updated data. Find full details at the Office of the Privacy Commissioner for Personal Data, Hong Kong.

We respect your privacy and uphold your rights
  • Obtain a free copy of your credit report if you are denied credit upon new application. The denial must be due in whole or in part to the fact that the TransUnion Credit Report has been considered by your credit providers. You can obtain a free credit report upon fulfilling the following:

  • Request and receive a free report within one month from the date of the credit rejection letter.

  • Provide the original rejection letter issued by one of TransUnion's subscribing credit providers.

  • The relevant credit provider should have checked your credit within three months prior to the date of the rejection letter. If not, an explanation is required.

  • After requesting a free credit report in response to a credit rejection letter, the next such request may be made no sooner than one month from the issue date of the previously provided free credit report.
In addition, you may add a brief statement on your credit report to express yourself regarding a dispute over the data. TransUnion will include your statement in the credit report. You may add a comment in person, by mail or by fax upon providing proper identification. Simply use the Consumer Comment Form.
