TransUnion has recently become aware that members of the public have received phone messages from individuals claiming to be TransUnion staff and promoting paid services that purportedly improve credit scores by altering the contents of personal credit reports, such as removing or avoiding public records. The incident also involved forged documents bearing the name of TransUnion. TransUnion clarifies that these messages are not authorised by us. We are deeply concerned that such messages may mislead the public or result in their financial loss. We hereby make the following statement:
 

1. TransUnion is a global information and insights company and credit reference agency. We (including TransUnion Information Services Limited, TransUnion Credit Information Services Limited, and any of our subsidiaries or affiliated companies) will not disclose any consumer’s “credit score” or “financial status” through any channel for the purpose of promoting paid services.
   
   
2. TransUnion does not offer any paid service to alter, remove or modify the contents of a consumer’s personal credit report for the purpose of improving their credit score.
   
   
3. Our customer service officers will not proactively contact consumers via phone messages to promote products or services.
   
   
4. TransUnion is a registered sender under Hong Kong’s Short Message Service (SMS) Sender Registration Scheme. All phone messages issued by TransUnion are sent from sender numbers beginning with the prefix “#” and are not sent from personal mobile numbers.
   
   
5. Information contained in a TransUnion credit report is sourced from the Credit Reference Platform (CRP) under Credit Data Smart (CDS). If consumers wish to update or correct information in their credit report, they should download the Personal Data Correction Form from the TransUnion website, and return the completed form to us by mail together with the required supporting documents.
